Ruxandra padded along the dark street, nose twitching, head swinging from side to side. She looked curious, almost calmly so. Of course, this was her being paranoid. She was sure, here in the open lands, that she would run into some unfriendly face. The thought of it made a growl rise to her throat, but she swallowed it back down. There's no one here. She reprimanded herself, grimacing at how crazy she sounded. Great, now I'm talking to myself. She thought rather blandly. It wasn't really her fault. She just blamed her mother for all of that. Anything that was not remotely desiable was instantly the fault of that bitch that whelped her. If all she'd done was give birth to me, maybe I wouldn't be so...off. Ruxe thought, turning the corner to what used to be the main plaza. Battered store signs that had withstood the time hung haphazardly from buildings. The intricate pattern of tiles that made up the square were shipped and uneven. How very deprssing. Ruxandra sniffed the air for prey. Her nose told her that there was a colony of rats living beneath the out-of-order fountain, a nest of pigeons just about ready to fly in the lamp post near the north side of the square, and a cat lurking about near the building that smelled like leather. Ruxe decided her best bet was to go for the cat, so she headed in that direction.

Pip walked silently along, her eyes darting from side to side nervous... She was alone, and walking through the empty streets with fear in her heart. Since she was young, the boxer hated being alone. It was, as a matter of fact, her worst nightmare. The small sound of paws walking on the empty street echoed out to the loner. She glnaced up to see another dog standing in the plaza. The female moved away, seeming to head off in another direction. Pip could smell it too. It was a cat lurking about.
The young female stepped out from the side road she was on and emerged into teh shinning light. Pip didn't want to ruin the other dogs concentration, but she so badly wanted to speak. She stood in the sunlight, adn waited for the female to finish her chase. Her excitement couldn't hold any longer though. She ran forward with a grin on her face and her tongue hanging out. She let out a bark adn slowed to a stop when she got closer to the stranger. "Hi!" Pip's voice was filled with joy and spirit... Like it always was... Even if she was hurt. The boxer awaited the other dog's reply eagerly... Even if she had just ruined the chase.

Ruxandra moved towards the scent of cat, careful to make sure it wouldn't detect her. Time seemed to slow down as she zeroed in on the cat. Just a few more steps. She thought, placing one paw in front of the other as quietly as possible. Just as she was about to make the final leap. She heard the sound of claws clattering across the tiles. Ruxe whipped around, lips pulling back from her teeth. The other dogs barks smacked her ears and she flattened them to her head to try and shut out the obnoxious sound.
"What the hell...?" She gasped as she realized the dog was young and relatively harmless looking. Her ears straightened back up and she begrudgingly covered her teeth. What was she thinking? Surely she could tell what I was doing! Exasperated Ruxandra eyes the boxer, taking in the stranger's scent. "Hello." Her soft voice said, gaurded and quiet. It was just aboutt the opposite of this other dog's voice. "I'm Ruxandra." She offered, trying to be polite as she was now convinced the other dog was no threat.
Now that she had gotten over the immediate shock Ruxandra inspected the boxer closely. She took a few steps forward and sniffed, friendly like, tail wagging calmly. She didn't want to be instantly labeled as a stuck up meany.

Pip's grin grew into a sloppy smile. Her eyes filled with delight as she met the stranger, Ruxandra. Her small stubby tail began to wag. The pup could tell that Ruxandra was annoyed with her ruining the moment, but she really didn't care. That's what happened when you were in the Open Lands where all could roam... Other dogs interupted everything... Sometimes they even stole. The boxer stood helplessly. She wondered what to say next, and then it hit her. "I'm Pip! Wanna be friends?" She was straight forward and to the point. To some dogs, it always seemed rude to ask such questions, but to Pip it just seemed natural.
Pip glanced up at the fountain where a crow landed. She was tempted to chase it in the company of her friend, but currently she was in a conversation. The young female flipped her head back to Ruxandra. Her eyes soft and warm, almost like she was begging Ruxandra to say yes and just be her friend... Even if she was denied, Pip would still hang around the other female, adn if she said yes to being friends, Pip would become a loyal little puppy following her around everywhere... Either way, Pip had someone to hangout with for the moment.
