The female's grin faded as she thought. She hadn't been happy this entire time, and Axel's words struck her as hard. The meaning hit and she could feel her eyes screaming out to cry. So the friend she had wasn't truly her friend but instead just there to be there and had no interest in the boxer at all? She took in a deep breath and tried to get the joy to return to her face. Never once had she been betrayed like this... Or had she?
Pip looked between the two brutes, so the new one was Kovu? Did he plan to become her friend, or just be there until the storm passed over. Pip smiled at Kovu, he had a chance. She had been happy and strong in the beginning but now she was just hurt and hiding the pain. Had any of the others noticed the pain in her eyes. She had screwed her life over believing that everyone was her friend and wanted to be that way. Maybe she was just there and in the way. She remembered the female she had met by the fountain and how she hadn't seen her since. Would that be the same for the two brutes standing on either side of her.
Pip looked to the roof hearing the rain pouring down on the world. It was like her tears and how they wanted to splash on the ground, but they were held back by the constant happy attitude that had been placed there long ago... When had it happened? The female tried to remember what she had been like when she was a child but her memory refused to go back that far. Why was it she couldn't just remember? Was there something she was hiding from herself or was she just forgetting everything? Pip looked up, the rain becoming to noisy for her to stand. "So what happened to your kitty Axel?" She asked her voice light and peppy once again. Filled with life like it had been before.

The onyx monster thought about what he had said, knowing what little he knew about Pip she was probably upset by those words, but Axel hadn't intended to hurt her. He couldn't say anything though, Kovu would suspect he was a liar and that could make Axel out to be a threat or even more untrustworthy. He really didn't know why he cared whether he'd hurt Pip or not. He must really be going soft. He wouldn't let it happen to him. Softies died in the real world. They were weak and easily taken out, Axel was no weakling. He glanced at Pip and a sigh escaped him. The great dane was starting to question himself and that was never good. He decided after this he would take a few days alone somewhere to get his head on straight again. He wasn't sure what was going on with him lately, but he hated it.
The beast shifted his weight back and forth and a yawn constricted his lungs. He shook himself and licked his onyx insets. When was the last time he'd slept? Axel couldn't remember. He looked at the wolf standing near him. Hopefully he wouldn't do anything stupid. Axel didn't want to have to fight a wolf today. They were natural fighters, dogs were domesticated versions of wolves and the natural fight had been bred out of them. Axel was sure he could handle himself, but he really didn't want to. It would be an epic fight with a great chance Axel wouldn't win. He glanced back to Pip who was smiling at the brute. He felt an odd feeling and refused to acknowledge it. He shook himself again.
He flicked his auds as the boxer spoke. Where was his cat? "I think it's just over there somewhere, hold on." He turned and trotted off a little ways and started to look for the cat. He sniffed, but the scent of rain and wolf were clouding his senses. He kept sniffing around and looking. He didn't want to share this kill anymore, he was starving and wanted to crawl off in the darkness and eat his kill, but he couldn't leave, not yet anyway. Maybe once he felt sure Pip wouldn't be ripped to shreads he would slip off without a word. He honestly wished he had just faced the rain today. He wasn't himself right now, and he didn't like it. He kept his nose down and searched for his feline. He smelled it nearby, now if only he could see.

Kovu watched in slight distaste at the expression on the little boxer's face when she heard her compainion's words. Had his thoughts not matched his actions? That was never a good thing. In fact, it would most of the time, end up being a very bad thing, for both sides. Not that he'd know from personal experience. He'd been a bit worried that his... tendencies... would get him into a bit of trouble. Though he was certain he wouldn't hurt a loved one, he wasn't positive. They were quick, fast, and over before he could realize what he'd done. Like with the rat. With that kind of timing, he wouldn't be able to stand it if he allowed history to repeat itself.
He offered a small smile back to Pip, not used to the gesture. He didn't know what his plans where, other than the one to start a pack. Beyond that, there was the general idea of taking a mate, having pups, and then stepping down for one of his pups when the time came. Everything was... somewhat peaceful here. He was sure chaos was going on somewhere, but it wasn't as obvious here as it was back home.
He cocked his head, his ears perked at Pip's words about a cat. A cat? What on earth is a cat? At the way Axel slipped off, it was apperently a type of animal that you would eat. Not that Kovu would be any competition for the meal. He'd killed a fawn a few days ago, so he had about another week and a half to hunt again. Plus, he was never one for food scwables unless someone tried to steal his food.
