Large paws stalked over the cracked concrete. His cold, soulless eyes darted around crazily at every little sound. His ears pricked forward at the sound of thunder. He stopped his movements and looked towards the skies. Dark, ominous clouds blocked out the sun and more thunder erupted from above. Axel's ears laced to his skull as a series of raindrops pelted him on the head. Annoyed, he let low growl slither out of his muzzle. He didn't usually mind the rain, but today he wasn't in the mood for it. He looked around and saw an old decrepit mall nearby. He set his massive frame in motion towards the entrance. His large paws thudded against the pavement as he neared the entrance. His large stature had become a problem, the doors were closed and he couldn't find a large enough space to get inside. He growled in anger and started to circle the building. He darted to the back of the mall and found a door. The old rusty door was nearly off it's hinges, so Axel reared back and exerted all his weight into a push against the door. It gave way and clattered to the ground. Axel stealthily made his way inside.
It was dark and the place smelled of rotting food. His dark eyes adjusted to the lack of light as the brute sniffed his way around. His tail drooped and he lifted his massive head. His ears flicked up and he let out a low growl. Someone else was in this mall with him. His muscles tensed up and the fur on his shoulders stood up. He remained this way for a few short moments before relaxing slightly and then he started searching for whatever was in here with him.

Pip slipped in through a broken door, her eyes scanning the empty halls. Why wasn't anyone else here? It completely bugged her to be alone, and with no one around she was beginning to feel like a small lost pup again. The boxer let out a small whimper and walked on. Bars blocked many entrances to black holes, but some had been completely demolished and torn apart. The female heard a noise. Her ears laid back on her head for a second when instinct took control, but they quickly returned to normal as her happiness kicked in.
She bounded forward fearless of everything. There was another dog, Pip was positive of that. She heard a low growl and continued onward. It sounded like a brute, but the boxer wasn't sure. She entered an area that smelled of food and was darker than the rest of the area. She could hear the storm raging on outside... Maybe the rain and clouds were blocking out the light from coming in. Pip sniffed. Her nose smelled the stranger. She glanced around. "Hello?" Her voice was pepppy as usual... Fearless of the brute that was before her.

Axel's ears whipped in the direction of claws clicking on the decaying floor. Instantly his body readied itself for attackers. A loud threatening growl shook from his throat. His hairs bristled up again and his lips pulled back to reveal several sharp teeth. The bitch spoke to him and he pivoted around to face her. He was larger than she was, as was usually the case. He lowered his massive skull and glared into her eyes. He sniffed the air and took in her scent briefly. He relaxed quite a bit, after all it was just a woman, what could she really do? He was his usual cold hearted self in his reply. You shouldn't wander around dark malls alone. He let out a dark little chuckle. He then circled her cautiously, sizing her up in case she caused trouble. He then returned to her front. You might get hurt.
He wouldn't hurt her, unless she made him, but it was his mannerism none the less. He always instilled the fear from the get go. It saved him a lot of trouble. He decided he wouldn't be as mean as he could be, she seemed to be a happy little bitch, why ruin it for her? Right away at least. The great dane's tail stood still behind his large, lean frame and his muscles quivered slightly from the adrenaline. He eyed the boxer carefully, and briefly glanced around to make sure he wasn't missing someone else.

Pip stared at the brute before her. The stranger glared into her eyes before speaking. Words about wandering alone, but that was why the boxer was there! To find someone! She wagged her tail, and spun her head as the brute began to circle her. Yes, it was true seh might get hurt, but she never did. That's what always made her so fearless... Pain avoided her. Fear tingled up her legs, but she knew nothing would go wrong... Or at least she hoped.
Pip just grinned at the stranger. "I'm Pip! And you?" Even in the dark when a storm was moving outside, she stilled sounded happy... It would be strange to hear the young fea not happy... It always seemed she was the one that kept joy in the world, and if she lost it, it was gone for good... Or that's what she dreamed in her little fantasies... Ones where her siblings and mother where happily running along in a field, or maybe eating a deer together with her family... If only... Pip let out a sigh and smiled at the happy thoughts, now back to reality.

Axel was taken aback by this femme's ignorant bliss. She didn't seem at all afraid of him. His size alone usually scared females away. He raised an eyebrow and her. Her name was so fitting it sickened him. Pip. A happy sounding name for a happy sounding dog. He twitched his ears at her and took a small step towards her. He watched her as she almost seemed to be twitching from excitement or something of that nature. Axel let out a sigh, which resembled a quiet growl. He parted his fangs to speak. "Well, Pip. I was given the name Axel." He said it flatly, his deep voice often conveyed little or no emotion.
He blinked his eyes lazily and kept watching the boxer. She had some sort of dazed smile on her face, she looked like she was drifting off into some far off memory, or daydream. Axel took this time to sit himself down on the cold, dirty floor. It was funny to him how the humans spent so much time building these worthless buildings only to abandon them later. He lifted his powerful back left leg to scratch his side. After his itch was scratched he lifted his large frame and stood in front of her, calmly yet cautious.

Pip took a step back as the brute stepped forward. So his name was Axel? Pip placed the name with the face after much struggle. It fit him, but she always had trouble remembering names. She noticed how Axel sat down. The fea was tempted to do the same, but the nervous energy under her feet kept her up. The male scratched his side, which made her side itch. Pip refrained from scratching it, but instead stood shifting from paw to paw. It was an akward silence... This dog wasn't much company, and it was beginning to make her nervous.
"Wanna play a game?" Stupidty and ignorance. That's what fueled those words that filled the empty void between the two dogs. The young boxer was ignorant. She hadn't thought about the age and attitude of the other dog. She was stupid for speaking, and for not regretting the words that came out of her mouth. It was silly mistakes and words like that, that would be her death in the end. If only Pip could see that like every other dog she met.

Axel was growing annoyed by her constant upbeat attitude. He watched her fidget from energy and he grew angry. He wasn't sure why but he could feel it coursing through him, consuming him. He struggled not to give in to it. He knew if he did it would end badly for young Pip and he wouldn't have another dog's blood on his paws. The brute could easily end the boxer if he wanted to, she seemed to ignorant to know much about fighting. He wouldn't let his mind linger on the subject any longer as it only fueled his sudden rage. As she stepped back Axel, being the beast he was, stepped closer because it seemed to make her uncomfortable. As he did so a dark smirk parted his muzzle revealing some sharp, white teeth. "A game? Tell me now, Pip, do I look like the type of dog that would like games?" He struggled to keep in control of his anger as he spoke, but he decided to humor her a little. Until he lost control.
Axel's sides heaved as he inhaled a large breath. He sighed from boredom and frustration and after a few seconds of silence had passed a loud crash of thunder cracked. The old, cracking windows of the mall rattled slightly. Axel didn't so much as shudder at the loud sound. His ears simply flicked up at the sound.

For a moment Pip's body trembled in fear. Her happiness exploded into the unknown emotion called fear, but it only lasted seconds before she returned. She took another step back as he advanced. Axel's voice was frightening, but the emotion didn't register... The boxer wouldn't let it. She lowered her head before shaking it slightly. No, the big brute didn't look like one to play a game with. Silence entered like always. The brute sighed and shortly after thunder rolled over the mall. Pip flinched taking a step back and looking toward the sky. The big dog seemed to not notice it.
Pip decided that her happy attitude was needed here. "So, what's there to explore in this place?" Her voice was bright, and filled with hope that something interesting would pop up... Maybe ghost stories would pass the time, or maybe a good game of hide-n-seek... Anything to entertain her. Axel... Pip blinked, her heart lonely. Axel wasn't much of a friend, and that was clear. He was silent and a tad bit scary even for the young fea... Which was rare since she was barely ever fazed by these things... What was it about the brute that pulsed fear throughout her body?

The demon eyed the boxer as she quivered and stepped back. He choked backa laugh, seeing her fear amused him. What can he say, he's twisted like that. He watched her regain her happy, twitchy composure and it sickened him. He watched her shake her head at him, she was obviously discouraged. Axel almost felt sympathy for her. He knew what it was like to be alone and want a companion, but he chased those feelings out of himself long ago and now he was a cold, heartless monster. Axel pricked up his ears at the young femme as she spoke. He looked around and at that moment he scented something. It smelled like a cat. He growled and then he heard the feline scratching at something. Axel looked at Pip, it would be something to end the awkwardness that had consumed this whole conversation... maybe.
"Well, Pip, in case you haven't caught the scent or heard the clawing, there is a cat somewhere in here, but at the moment that's all I know." He spoke cold, almost harsh wods. Axel kept listening and it sounded as though the cat was stalking something but he wasn't sure. He waited for the boxer to say something. Come to think of it he was a little hungry.

A small scent found its way to Pip. Her nose twitched at first, but no other signs gave away the fact she smelled the cat. Axel growled which led the boxer to believe that the brute could smell it too. Rather depressing that she wouldn't get it herself, but that moment of depression didn't last long. The pup grinned and wagged her tail, finally something to do! She looked around trying to spot the cat when Axel spoke. So he did know. Well, the hunt would begin soon.
Pip turned around seeing if she could see the cat. Another clap of thunder made her flinch, but the lightning lit up the room, giving them a chance to find the cat. Her tail wagged up in the air as she sniffed the ground, trying to find the cat. It was hopeless they needed to wait until lightning struck again. "It looks like the lightnings the only way to find the cat..." Pip paused, trying to think of another way to find the cat. "Unless you have a really really good nose!" The young boxer grinned at Axel. This, was going to be fun.

Axel sniffed again and pricked his ears up. He looked at the excited boxer in front of him and spoke in hushed words. "I can smell the feline, but seeing it is going to be difficult." Lightning flashed illuminating the room for a second, Axel looked around, but it was already dark again. He eyed Pip carefully, she could be helpful in hunting this cat, but she also could screw it up completely. He sniffed, the scent was drifting away from the two canines. Axel looked at Pip. She would have to be very quiet and keep up with him. Axel was almost like a machine when he hunted. He focused soully on his prey, nothing else mattered. Especially when he's as hungry as he was now. His stomach growled and he parted his massive jaws to speak. "If we're going to hunt this cat, stick close to me and keep quiet. If you fall behind, I'm not waiting for you. Got it?"
Axel started to get fidgety as was his way when he was anxious about something and at the moment he was about this cat. He was hungry. He waited for Pip to speak and glanced around as more lightning flashed. He thought he saw something else moving, but it wasn't the size of a cat. He was probably just seeing things. He shrugged it off and waited.

Seeing would be difficult, and that would make catching the cat tricky. The boxer glanced around in the dark. Where was that cat? Then she smelled it, it was moving away slowly. That gave them the direction to move in, and when Axel spoke again she just nodded. She was focused in on the cat. As they started to move more lightning flashed but she didn't see the target in sight. Instead she notcied something move. The fea turned but the light had gone. She turned back around, what had moved?
Pip glanced around not seeing Axel in sight. Where had he gone? the worried female began to hurry her pace and silently begged Axel to show up. She trotted along silently not wanting to call out to the brute and ruin his concentration. She gave a small whine, and her worry grew as more lightning flashed. She was clearly at a cross roads in the building. Quick to act she turned to the left and began heading off. She wandered down the path and came to a dead end. Broken glass and the wind allowed rain to get inside. The boxer shook herself off and trotted back down the hall.
"Axel?" Pip whispered. She was alone again and it was killing her. Where had that big dog gone?! She frowned and stood perfectly still, where was she? She had to wait until the lightning flashed to see that. While she waited her mind thought back to the movement, what had that been. "Hello? Anyone?" The female heard a noise, clearly someone was there... Even if they didn't want to talk or show themselves to the fea... So long someone was there.

Axel moved off toward the cat, his long muscled pillars lurching forward in swift, silent motions. His pupils dialted to pull in more light and his audits flicked up to pick of the cat's movements. He shut out the rest of the world and all he could hear was his breath, his heart, and his prey. His paws struck the ground hard as he picked up the pace. The cat sounded like it was still unaware of him and that made Axel smirk. This would be easy, so long as Pip kept quiet. Speaking of, she was being really quiet. Axel glanced back and she was gone. An annoyed growl slipped from his muzzle. She'll have to wait. Axel sped forward and lightning flashed and he saw the cat's fleeting form. It had heard him approaching. He bounded after the feline, his large form made the chase easier. It was time to hunt now, he would find Pip later.
Muscles extended and contractedas his pillars moved him forward. The cat was desperately trying to get away, but Axel was closing in fast. He peeled back his ebony labrums and snarled. The feline darted fast to the left and Axel skidded around the corner. It was a dead end and the feline knew it was trapped. It cowered into the corner and hissed at the brute. Axel smiled at the feline and walked closer to him. "Well, look at this. You'll be delicious." He licked his lips and attacked. His large jaws clamped onto the felines fragile windpipe and crushed it. His massive jaws probably could've severed it's head, but Axel wouldbn't do that today. Once the feline stopped squirming and died Axel licked the blood from his labrums and picked up the feline.
He trudged around the empty mall and the whole time he felt as though something was following him. He kept moving though, nothing could hurt him at this point, he was ready for anything. The cat hung limply from his massive jaws. He dropped it to the ground and let out a deep, loud bark. "Pip?" He snarled in annoyance and picked the cat up. For some reason he didn't want her to get lost in here. She would be easy pickings for any pack that tried to kill her in here. He sniffed and caught scent of her and moved in that direction.

She glanced around and decided that she would go to the left. She quickly sped off thinking that the dog snarling was her enemy. She stopped and glanced around as lightning flashed. Behind her sat the dog that had snarled. Filled with fear and no Axel in sight she whined and called out to the brute. "AXEL!" She didn't know what else to do, and that was her only option. Hopefully the male would hear her cries and save her.
Pip backed silently against the wall hoping that the new stranger wouldn't see her and instead pass by. Her eyes closed and she took in a deep breath. She could hear approaching feet. The boxer opened her eyes again and prayed that Axel would be there soon. She couldn't stand another second, and this new dog was getting close. The suspense was killing her. Would this new dog just walk past her, or would she end up being caught, and would Axel be there soon to save her?

Axel's ears ripped up as her heard Pip scream. For some reason, Axel didn't want her to get hurt, she was too innocent, to happy and upbeat to be hurt. He wanted her to stay that way and didn't want her to be exposed to the ugliness of this world. The limp feline dropped from his jaws and he snarled. Axel let out another low growl and darted off in the direction of the scream. His deep, loud voice ripped through the air. "Pip? Pip, where the hell are you?" His auds flicked up as her drew closer to the femme. The scent of another brute was thick in the air and Axel slowed his stride. He strained his eyes to see in the dark. He inhaled deeply and Pip and this male were both very close in front of him. Lightning flashed illuminating the frightened female's face. Axel slinked over to her side and nudged her to move. He glanced in the direction of the other male. He couldn't see him, but he knew he was close. Axel didn't really care for the female, but he wouldn't have another's blood on his paws. Axel growled and took a protective stance in front of Pip. He looked back at her and growled. "Do you know how to get out of here?" He looked back ahead and kept his senses alert. He snarled loudly and crouched slightly. His massive size gave him confidence and his dark pelt made him even harder to see. Axel had advantages and he intended to use them to protect Pip until they were out of this place.
OOC;; Meh sleepy post. Maybe we should get another person involved? If you want, if not that's fine.

Kovu had decided to get acquainted with the layout of the entire city, as he had with the Vale- make sure he knew all the hidey-holes and get away routes and short cuts. He'd already staked out an area for him to live in, and, eventually, he supposed, start a pack. But, first thing was first. Of course, the hidey-holes and get away routes where not for him. He could stay and fight his way out of anything. Those would be for wolves, no dogs (he forgot that wolves were not common in this part of the land) who couldn't defend themselves from attackers. Something he'd learned from his mother, the skittish wreck. Hopefully she hadn't gotten herself killed. Not effin likely, but whatever. She was probably already settled in some other pack, caring for pups all day long. Hopefully that's where she was. Other wise Kovu'd have to rip someone else's throat out. He'd followed his nose to the mall, and managed to find his way into it. The faint scent of 'people', as they are called, clung to the shelves, though there where the scents of random wol- dogs. And a cat. What? Kovu snarled violently when he felt something skitter across his foot, twisting his body instantly so he could bite it, and kill it. Before he realized what he had done, he dropped the rat, his maw bloody, and the puncture wounds visable in the rat's dark coat. Crap. He better not get rabies or he was going to be livid. he smelt a spike of fear from one of the two dogs who was running around, a little bitch. He faintly heard her call out 'Axel!'. Wait, she thought he was going to hurt her? What a joke. Wait. She'd called out a name. Axel was diffidently a brute's name. Ah, hell. Here we go. Kovu was not going to hurt her, but some testosterone-filled brute with a stick rammed up his rear-end right perceive Kovu as one. And we all know the most dangerous thing in the world, next to a mother defending her children, was a pissed off male defending his bitch. And he just wasn't in the mood to screw with that. So, naturally, when he watlzed right up, he was not greeted well. The size of the dog didn't scare him- Kovu was a grey wolf, the largest of the breeds. And he was large for his species. If he wanted, he could hold his own- maybe not beat, depending on how much experience the male had, but he could diffidently hold his own. Despite his wolfy-instincts telling him to whip his distant cousin back into his place, Kovu kept his posture relaxed and open, despite the snarling mass of PO'd muscle, ready to fight him to protect the little tan female."Well, what do we have here? And calm down. I ain't interested in her."

She glanced around and finally saw a figure coming closer to her. Was that Axel? The boxer sniffed and found that the scents were both male, and on either side of her... How wonderful. Pip grinned. Axel was there, and so was another dog, but that didn't worry her that much, just the fact that Axel was there. Her tail gave a small wag and she looked in the direction which she thought was Axel. He asked about getting out and she suddenly remembered when she had left the brute and gotten lost. There had been a borken door then right?
Pip nodded but realized that a nod wouldn't help much in the dark. As she was about to speak the other stranger spoke first. What was he saying? Pip decided it would be easiest just to state her name as a simple greeting and move along on her own way... What had he meant by he wasn't interested in her? Did he not want to be friends? "I'm Pip!" The fea paused and looked at Axel as lightning flashed outside. "Axel, I remember a way out, why?" Pip moved forward and away from the wall. She figured that if the other brute didn't want to hurt her then she was fine out in the open. Since it seemed there was no harm she turned to the other male. "What are you doin' in here?" The boxer giggled. "You almost killed me 'cause you snuck around so much." She smiled and looked around agian. Had he really snuck around that much? Or had she just imagined most of it?

Axel relaxed his stance at the burte's words. He obviously thought Axel had some intentions or feelings for Pip. Axel had none of those and hated that he'd been misunderstood. A dark laugh came from him as he spoke. "You misunderstand my intentions."In order not to further the male's misunderstanding Axel moved away from Pip a bit, but not too far just in case the brute was lying. Axel inhaled and took in the brute's scent. He'd smelled it before but he couldn't remember what it was. It was so similar to canine scent, but slightly different. Axel sniffed again and it came to him. This creature was a wolf. Axel had dealt with them before and wasn't worried about this one at all. He knew from past experiences that they were strong and skilled fighters, but so was Axel.
He glanced over at Pip as she spoke and he shook his head. This bitch was unbelievably ignorant. She had feared for her life moments before and now all was okay. She trusted the wolf way too quickly and Axel was sure if she was even worth saving if the brute decided he was interested. He parted his onyx insets and spoke. Nevermind now, Pip, it's not important." Axel wasn't sure if he should even stick around here. He'd never been one for long drawn out conversations, but he didn't want to leave wondering if Pip made it. Why did he even care that much? In the past Axel would've killed her himself simply because she was annoying him. Had he grown soft over the years? No, not Axel. He was never going to go soft. He decided that a long time ago. This was simply a hiccup and it would pass. He didn't reallly care about the femme at all. He jsut didn't want another's blood on his paw, his mother's was enough. Axel decided to stay so at least if the wolf attacked Axel would know. He may not step in, but he would at least know.
Axel listened as Pip conversed with the wolf. He stood by and grew more and more annoyed. This wench was going to get herself killed one day. Axel wouldn't be there to save her. He would make sure of that. It was luck on her part that he'd even stuck around this long. He swung his large skull around and glanced over his shoulder even though he could see nothing. Lightning flashed illuminating the mall for brief seconds before they all plummited back into darkness again. Thunder followed closey and at this point Axel wondered if he'd have been better off dealing with a little rain. He kept his audits locked on the two creatures in front of him. He'd have to listen a lot more since he couldn't see. He glanced at what he thought was the wolf and waited for his response. Axel wasn't much for words and lucky for him Pip would take care of most of the talking. He would speak when needed, but that was about it for the brute.

Kovu resisted a smirk at the clarification of the male, claiming that Kovu misunderstood his intentions. Well, looks like there was some hope for the male species as a whole after all. Where he was from, if she didn't 'belong' (for lack of a better term) to you in some way, shape or form, be she your mother, mate, daughter, or a some other female relative, she was her own. Case closed. Well, except for him. Other then the bouts of violence he had occasionally, he supposed his mother raised him well off.
His father could kiss his tail, for all Kovu cared, the bastard. Roughing up his mother, then leaving her alone with a small pup to care for. Thank god for Oak, even if he was up the ladder in years."My apologies, then. Hello Pip- my name is Kovu"These two didn't seem as twitchy as the other one had, Six. Wonder what that one was all about. Well, it wasn't important now. Kovu looked around when the lightning struck, mostly for any signs of others. "Sorry Pip- Where I'm from, you don't go wandering around strange areas, and make your presence known to others unless you know you won't be attacked."Wonder place to live, the Vale. Anyway, he supposed they where lucky they hadn't run into one of his more... vicious... counterparts. Otherwise Axel would have diffidently had a fight on his hands, and Pip would have found herself in a position she would probably not have liked. She was too young anyway. Barely old enough to breed, by wolf standards. (where they different for dogs? He had no idea...)
Stretching his back leg, he shook out his black coat, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them back up
